Mercedes B-class Electric something or other. There’s a few around me used with low miles for cheap. They seem like a slightly classier Volt alternative for the same amount of money.

I’ve been in a previous gen g as one. Interior was horrendous.

Yup. They drive a bit like a GLA, just a bunch quieter. Maybe a bit smoother over bumps with a hint more wind noise, its been a few years since I worked on one so my memory is a bit foggy. I enjoyed it . Just be sure your local MB dealer is certified to work on them, weird issues do happen from time to time.

$40k for 87 miles range was abysmal, $20k used is also bad but not as bad as the original price.

They’re electric only, not a hybrid?

Oh, I thought you were talking about the electric only. They may have a hybrid? I don’t know.

What are prices like? Between it and a BMW i3, I wonder which is better value.

Mid-18 for a 2014 with 30k miles, exactly the same as the i3
AMGtech - now with more recalls!

They drive fine. Interior is nothing special. Electric only. Front wheel drive. 60-90ish mile range (depending on how it’s driven and how much you use heat/AC/etc.) Not unreliable, but the HV components are very expensive, though the HV components (some at least) are warrantied for like 8 years or something like that. I don’t remember for sure. Decent c ity commuter, but if you need to do more than 50 miles between charges you best look elsewhere.
I’m certified to work on these, and have driven plenty. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

That’s all I needed to know! The 80 miles of range is a killer, I was hoping for either a hybrid system or at least 150ish.

I suspect in the end, the i3 would end up being the better car. It was designed from the ground up to be an EV. I doubt that’s the case with the B class.
